A visit to the catacombs offers an opportunity to explore and discover the lesser known side of Rome. The Catacombs of San Callisto

It is important to reserve tickets for the Borghese Gallery in advance, as access is limited to a certain number of visitors each day. Alternatively, you can book a guided tour to learn more about the art and history of the gallery with the assistance of experienced tour guides who will lead you through the exhibition collections.

Villa Borghese and its Gallery

The catacombs of St. Callistus have a network of tunnels more than 20 kilometers long. They were the burial place of 16 pontiffs and dozens of Christian martyrs.

Thursday through Tuesday, 9:00 am to noon and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The Catacombs of St. Sebastian

The catacombs of St. Sebastian are 12 kilometers long. They are named after St. Sebastian, a soldier who became a martyr for converting to Christianity. These catacombs, along with those of St. Callistus, represent the best catacombs that can be visited at present. They are open Monday through Saturday, 9:00 am to noon and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The Catacombs of Domitilla

The catacombs of Domitilla were discovered in 1593. They are more than 15 kilometers long and named after Vespasian’s granddaughter.

Opening Hours:

Wednesday through Monday, 9:00 am to noon and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The Catacombs of Priscilla

The catacombs of Priscilla preserve some very important frescoes in art history, such as early depictions of the Virgin Mary.

Opening Hours:

Tuesday through Sunday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The Catacombs of St. Agnes

The catacombs of St. Agnes are named after the Christian martyr Agnes, who was buried here.

Opening Hours:

9 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., closed Sunday morning and Monday afternoon.
